Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker here to help you feel more connected, confident, and excited about who you are and the relationships around you. Using a genuine therapeutic style and holistic approach to healing, together we can inspire empowerment and change to create a life for you that feels courageous and fulfilled.
What can you expect when working with me?
Whether I am working with clients, or living my personal life, I have a nurturing and direct approach with those around me. During therapy sessions, you can expect that I will hold space for your emotional experiences, as well as challenge you to go deeper than venting. I am passionate about helping clients get to the root of their concerns and triggers, which can include looking at some scary and dark parts of ourself. During the journey, I will be with you each step of the way. Don’t worry, our sessions will not all be scary and hard – it is just as important to take time to see the progress and change that is occurring and share some good laughs along the way!
What are my specialized areas of interest?
I enjoy supporting clients wanting to work through their past hurts and trauma (which does not always look like “big T” trauma – traumatic stress can also be from relationship or attachment wounds), clients wanting to improve their relationships with others, boundary setting and building empowerment over your life, learning self-love, spiritual growth and development, and couples work - supporting partners to feel safe, connected, and loved in their relationship(s).
What type of therapy modalities do I use?
Thankfully therapy has evolved from the days of the therapist being the expert in the room with a neutral expression who only asks “how does that make you feel” (Yuck!). While I will certainly ask you about your feelings, I also use many other techniques in session to support you in your growth.
When we are talking during a therapy session, I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, self-compassion, inner child healing, and emotionally focused therapy. Along with talk therapy, I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). ART and uses bi lateral stimulation to facilitate visualization techniques focused on helping to reduce distress from traumatic events that are connected to emotional and physical reactions. The goal of this somatic approach is to reprogram where distressing memories are stored in the brain, and support the nervous system in feeling a greater sense of safety. Check out our page titled Trauma Treatment for more in-depth information how ART can help.
Couples Therapy – When working with couples, I incorporate techniques from the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Using these treatment modalities, I support couples in identifying their concerns and unmet needs, learn new ways of communicating, develop a new pattern of interacting that feels loving and safe, identify the root of the triggers or buttons that get pushed in the relationship, repair and heal past hurts, and rebuild trust and intimacy. I also support couples who are unsure if they would like to continue with or end their relationship, support in conscious uncoupling, and pre martial counseling.
Holistic healing – I believe healing does not just happen in the brain, which leads me to take a mind, body and soul approach. In session this looks like out of the box suggestions and questions that go beyond only changing our thought patterns. It is not uncommon for me to ask clients about nutrition, movement, sleep, and spirituality or provide recommendations of body-based healing to add into your routine such as breathwork or Neuro Emotional Technique (NET).
