Breathwork is a body based approach to healing that allows our body and nervous system to come into alignment. During a breathwork session, you are your own healer, allowing your body to show you what wounds or emotions need attention in order to be released.
What is breathwork?
Breathwork is an exercise with breathing rate and depth to allow for a balancing in the mind and body. The goal of breathwork is to bring awareness to our breath, allow for release of suppressed emotion, and deepen our connection to our emotions and body.
What are the benefits of breathwork?
Benefits include: clarity and alertness, feeling centered and connected to your body, emotional release, greater connection to your emotional state. Through breathwork we are practicing allowing our bodies to feel deeply safe and connected, while healing and releasing.
What should I expect during a session?
In our breathwork session or class we use conscious connected breathing, which is a two-part breath through the mouth. By breathing through the mouth, we are connecting with the sympathetic nervous system and increasing our oxygen intake. The breath allows our nervous to release emotions we have been storing and suppressing. While breathwork can be a profound experience for our mind and body, please be aware that breathwork can be challenging and hard work, and will likely bring up emotions for you. While our session will have a rest and integration phase, the phase of active breath requires effort from the mind and body.
Is breathwork safe for everyone?
If you have any medical conditions or are currently taking medication, please consult your doctor before starting breathwork. Breathwork is not recommended for women who are pregnant.
